Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. Man took the fire and struck each other.

Some are saying the world will not be the same on Wednesday morning.

They are not lying.

But what is coming is not only what the headlines will tell you. It is older than that. Larger than that. The sky has been composing this particular movement for a very long time and on the 8th of April, at twelve minutes to two in the afternoon, it arrives.

A string of pearls is breaking.

The ancient Arabs knew this star. They named it Alnilam; the central jewel of Orion's belt, the brightest thread holding the necklace together. And this week, at the final, desperate, irrevocable degree of Taurus, something that has been held together by invisible threads finally lets go.

This is not destruction.

This is the crack of a seed that has been waiting underground for longer than any of us have been alive. This is the bleeding out of poisons we have been drinking for centuries, mistaking them for wine. This is the we arriving to replace the I — not gently, not cleanly, but the way all real births arrive. With blood. With screaming. With a kind of terrible, luminous hope.
